Bringing her home
On May 20, 1995, I bought my 1995 Stealth R/T Turbo from Templeton Dodge
in Vienna, Virginia. The next day, I began the long journey back to
Sweet Home Chicago. Along the way, I made several stops at scenic
points for some pictures.
The trip started at my father's home in Virginia.

I made a stop in the countryside of central Virginia.

At the western edge of Virginia, I came across a beautiful scene
with fog-laden mountains towering in the distance. I got off the
highway and took an extremely narrow and steep one lane road up the side
of one of the mountains. As I neared the peak, the forest grew very
thick, and there was a sign welcoming me to "the University of Spiritual
Consciousness", or something like that. Fearing that some crazed wackos
might come after me with incense and flowers, I declined to head any
further up the mountain; instead, I pulled off the shanty road onto a
grass clearing behind a rickety house. The clearing was at the very
edge of a steep cliff, with nothing but a wooden post fence to prevent
objects and people from tumbling to their demise. I quickly positioned
the car, hopped out, and with the local stray dogs yapping at my feet,
snapped a few shots before high-tailing it back down the mountain. The
eerie lighting effects in these shots help to emphasize the creepy
atmosphere that I certainly felt while standing there.

Heading back down the mountain from the "cult" area, I found a hotel
with a nice view in the opposite direction.
